Strawberries: five new Fusarium-resistant varieties from California
The University of California at Davis presented five new strawberry varieties, the first release of its strawberry breeding programme in which all cultivars are resistant to Fusarium wilt. The five varieties were selected for high yields and better quality.

Berries, per capita consumption up +192% since 2011
The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) reports that the increase in per capita retail consumption of berries has been very strong: per capita nsumption of blueberries has increased 97% over the past 10 years, from 1.2 lbs (544g) in 2011 to 2.3 lbs (1.04kg) in 2022.

The Global Blueberry Price Index of the Italian Berry basket surveyed on 15/05/2023 decreased by 1.2 percent compared to the previous week, with the decrease mainly driven by the standard segment, which slipped by 2.62 percent compared to the previous week.
