The berry-themed puzzle turning UK breakfast into a moment of well-being and dopamine boost

British Berry Growers has launched a playful new puzzle in the style of “Where’s Wally?”, aimed at encouraging berry consumption at breakfast and boosting mood during the dark winter months. The illustration challenges users to find four hidden berries — a strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry — in a vibrant scene filled with physical and leisure activities.

The interactive game is part of the “Dopamine at Dawn” campaign, which promotes berries as a natural way to stimulate dopamine production in the morning. The puzzle also includes depictions of creative activities like reading and listening to music, which are associated with dopamine release.

Making breakfast fun

According to BBG Chair Nick Marston, the goal is to make breakfast fun, engaging, and nutritious — especially for children. The puzzle provides an entertaining way to introduce healthy habits while energizing the start of the day through playful interaction with fruit.

Experts explain that dopamine, a natural brain chemical, can be triggered by problem-solving tasks and nutrient-rich foods. Berries are high in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that support the body’s natural dopamine production and overall well-being.

Health benefits of berries

Nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert adds that incorporating berries into breakfast is a simple way to brighten winter routines. Beyond their taste and color, berries like blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries offer fiber, vitamin C, and plant compounds that contribute to gut health and general wellness — especially as research shows many children regularly skip breakfast.
