Thomas Drahorad presented data from Italian Berry, highlighting out-of-stock issues in berries, their causes, and impacts on sales and consumer satisfaction.

There was a slight increase in the price index for the Italian retail during week 46: growth in currants at +7.2%, with blackberries and blueberries growing slightly by +1%. The number of references also increased, with a total of 56 representing a growth of +17%.

Prices were generally stable in the Italian retail basket this week. There was slight growth for raspberries with +5%, while blueberries fell by -3.2%. There was also a drop in references, which fell by 16% with a total of 48.

The price index for berries in the Italian retail sector increased by 2.2%: good for currants, similar growth for blueberries and raspberries. The number of units fell by 10% to 45.

Hot week for blueberries in the Italian retail market, with the price index up 20.3 percent in the September 11, 2023 survey compared to the previous week. Blackberries are also up sharply in price, while raspberries show only a slight increase.

In the online retailers surveyed, there was a -25% change in the number of references in the assortment to 57 from 76 in the previous survey of 21/08/2023, with raspberries and blackberries leading the trend.
