Spreafico partnering on 150 hectares for a 100% Italian supply

Spreafico's investments continue: today we are talking about berries, a category to which the company has dedicated its own line, iPiccoli, aimed at improving the visibility and presence of berries in shops.

A project that goes beyond packaging, distribution and marketing strategies, Spreafico now offers a 360° service and participation for the entire group.

THE SPREAFICO PROJECT

Spreafico has always been a producer, importer and distributor, but it is in the production area that the company is working more and more to guarantee Italian fruit in the shops; an example of this are its excellent pears, kiwis, stone fruits and berries.

In this last category, Spreafico is a partner of 95 farmers (for a total of 150 hectares from the North to the South of Italy) who have chosen to rely on the fruit and vegetable group to start up or convert and grow their own production business dedicated to berries.

The company is involved in many aspects of this commitment.

Producers who choose to collaborate with Spreafico know that they will receive all-round support from the company, thanks to the agronomists and technicians who know how to advise them in the best possible way:

  • select the most suitable variety to be grown on the basis of a study of the terrain and climatic peculiarities of the area,  
  • define when it is right to cultivate each specific variety, as each variety, each soil and each area must respect nature's timing to bring a good, healthy product to the table
  • define how to cultivate each specific variety while respecting nature, favouring the use of fertilisers that are as natural as possible and reducing chemical pesticides.

The world of Berry is increasingly expanding but blueberry is the reference that Italians prefer and for which Spreafico is launching new projects.

From 2023, hectares devoted to blueberry cultivation will be added to the company's own farms in northern Italy and Latina. The aim is to be able to supply the Italian product all year round by reducing imports.

Today Spreafico has two centres dedicated to small fruits, one in Povegliano Veronese (VR) and one in Latina (LT), which allow the company to guarantee a distribution service throughout the country. Here, technology allows the company to provide an increasingly precise product, not only in terms of colour and degree of ripeness, but also in terms of packaging, weights and sizes.
