Peru continues to strengthen its central role in the international trade of fresh blueberries. In the 2025/2026 season, exports reached 380 thousand tonnes, up 21.5% compared to the 313 thousand tonnes shipped in the previous campaign.
The final result remained below the initial expectations, which had pointed to a possible season of 400 million kilos, but still confirms a solid expansion phase for one of the world’s leading blueberry suppliers.
Shipment peak in the fourth quarter
According to analyses shared by Fernando Cillóniz Benavides of Inform@cción, the campaign followed Peru’s now consolidated pattern: availability spread throughout the year, but with a strong concentration of volumes in the fourth quarter.
October was once again the most significant month, with 90.8 million kilos exported. It was followed by September, with 75.7 million kilos, and November, with 66.2 million kilos.
This commercial window remains strategic for the positioning of Peruvian product on international markets, particularly during the off-season months for the Northern Hemisphere.
At regional level, La Libertad maintains its role as the main driver of Peru’s blueberry supply chain. The region exported 189.7 million kilos, up 17.5% year-on-year, accounting for almost 50% of total shipments.
Its production capacity, combined with the continuity of supply, continues to provide decisive support to national performance.

Lambayeque and Ica accelerate growth
While La Libertad remains dominant, the most dynamic growth is coming from other production areas. Lambayeque reached 89.5 million kilos exported, with an increase of 27.7%.
Ica recorded an even sharper progression, posting the highest growth rate among the main producing regions. Shipments reached 50.4 million kilos, equal to a 47.9% increase compared to the previous season.
This development reflects the impact of the new plantations established in recent years and suggests that Ica will play an increasingly important role in the coming campaigns. Áncash also contributed to the expansion, with 21.8 million kilos exported and growth of 20.2%.
The geographical evolution of exports highlights a progressive diversification of Peruvian production. La Libertad remains the sector’s center of gravity, but the advance of Lambayeque, Ica and Áncash confirms the expansion of the country’s production base.
Investments in new plantations, particularly in the Ica area, indicate that the growth potential
has not yet been exhausted.
Positive outlook, but weather remains an unknown
Looking ahead to the 2026/2027 campaign, early forecasts continue to point to a further increase in exported volumes. However, weather remains a key variable: a possible El Niño event could affect production and shipping capacity.
For the global blueberry market, Peru nevertheless confirms its position as a key player: supply continuity, expanding acreage and growing regional diversification are strengthening its role as a pillar of the international supply chain.
