Lidl has been named Retailer of the Year 2025 by British Berry Growers after recording an average 46% increase in sales of British strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries.
The award was announced during the crop association’s annual retailer event, following a particularly strong season supported by favorable spring and summer growing conditions.
This year, British Berry Growers expanded its awards program, introducing new category-specific recognitions by berry type and a Special Recognition award.
The organization represents 95% of British berry production sold in the UK, highlighting the significance of the results across the retail sector.

In addition to the overall Retailer of the Year title, Lidl also won Strawberry Retailer of the Year and Raspberry Retailer of the Year.
Asda received the Blueberry Retailer of the Year award after a 239% sales increase, while Aldi led blackberry sales with a 66% rise.
Overall, British berry sales grew by more than 10% across all retailers, reaching over 120,000 tonnes for the season.
Ocado was also honored with a Special Recognition award for strong year-on-year growth in British berry sales.
