The first Scottish-grown golden raspberries are set to hit Asda shelves this weekend in a limited-edition release.
Known for their delicate texture and distinctive yellow hue, these premium berries will be available only while supplies last.
The variety and origins
The variety, called ‘All Gold’, has been developed through a collaboration between Bruce Farms, a fourth-generation Perthshire grower, and supplier Scotty Brand.
Geoff Bruce, director of Bruce Farms, described the project as a passion initiative aimed at bringing innovation to the Scottish soft fruit sector.
He highlighted the satisfaction of seeing the fruit thrive in Perthshire’s fertile farmland, building on the family’s 125-year legacy of quality farming.
From farm to fine dining
The golden raspberries have already been featured in fine dining, with Stevie McLaughlin, head chef at the two Michelin-starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, incorporating them into his desserts.
McLaughlin praised their flavour for its delicate tartness balanced with earthy notes, making them suitable for both gourmet creations and simple home recipes.
Asda and local support
Ashley Connolly, Asda Scotland’s local buying manager, emphasized the significance of the launch, noting that Asda customers will be the first to access this seasonal product.
She credited the farm–supplier partnership for bringing the innovation to market quickly, underscoring Asda’s commitment to supporting local growers and offering shoppers fresh, unique products.
