E-Commerce Review
Berries Italy
Planner

Prices, range, and promotional policies of e-commerce retailers are becoming strategic indicators for producers, distributors, and buyers. To better understand these dynamics, Italian Berry has launched PLANNER, a new report dedicated to the analysis of online prices of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and redcurrants.

Planner at a glance

  • 4000+ price points per report
  • 20+ retailers monitored
  • 4 past weeks + 4 upcoming weeks analyzed
  • 4 products (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, redcurrants)
  • 3 pack sizes (S, M, L)

A snapshot in motion: past and future compared

Rather than limiting itself to the current situation, PLANNER compares the last four weeks with the next four. This makes it easy to detect trends, seasonal fluctuations, and possible future scenarios.

Unique market coverage

PLANNER is based on the work of the Italian Berry E-Commerce Observatory, which for each weekly edition processes over 4,000 observations across the main Italian online retailers.

These include leading names in digital grocery: Esselunga, Amazon, Carrefour, Conad, EasyCoop, Eurospin, Pam, Penny, Cortilia, Bennet and many others. This ensures a complete and reliable picture of price developments.

How the data is calculated

To provide the most representative analysis possible, PLANNER considers net prices, excluding promotions. The data is then presented as weekly charts, focusing on:

  • Blueberries (sizes S, M, L)
  • Raspberries (sizes S, M)
  • Blackberries (sizes S, M)
  • Redcurrants (size S)

The reference is always the standard product, ensuring consistent comparison between years and retailers.

Pack sizes are grouped into three classes: S (up to 199g), M (200–299g), L (300g and above).

A tool for the entire supply chain

PLANNER is aimed at those in the berry supply chain who must make operational and commercial decisions: producers, cooperatives, importers, distributors, and retail buyers. With a clear and straightforward layout, the report helps to:

  • Monitor online pricing strategies
  • Anticipate seasonal trends
  • Plan sales and marketing actions more effectively

A solid foundation, a strategic vision

Each edition of PLANNER uses defined timeframes, comparing data on a weekly and yearly basis. For example, Week 35 is analyzed across the following periods:

  • 2023: July 31 – September 25
  • 2024: July 29 – September 23
  • 2025: July 28 – September 22

This makes it possible to clearly evaluate historical evolution and potential future scenarios.

Distribution

The Italian Berry Planner is available exclusively to Italian Berry Newsletter subscribers and is sent every week together with the free edition of the newsletter.
