The survey was conducted on 24/07/2024 in the urban area of Milan (Italy) and involved 20 stores from 19 brands belonging to 16 large retail groups.
The assortment of the following brands was surveyed: Aldi, Bennet, Carrefour Express, Carrefour Market, Conad, Coop, Esselunga, Eurospin, Il Gigante, iN's, Iperal, Ipercoop, Lidl, MD, Pam, Penny, Sigma, Tigros, U2.
Assortment
In the berry category, the visited stores had between 1 and 8 references, with an average of 4.2 references per store.
In the 20 stores visited with a berry assortment:
- 75% have Raspberries in the assortment
- 100% have Blueberries in the assortment
- 85% have Blackberries in the assortment
- 50% have Red Currants in the assortment
- 20% have a Mixed Berry assortment
Range Breadth
- 10% of stores with berries in the assortment have only one reference for sale.
- 40% of stores with berries in the assortment have 2 or 3 references for sale.
- 50% of stores with berries in the assortment have 4 or more references for sale.
Quality
The groups with the best quality were Esselunga, Iperal, Sigma, Unes.

- Blueberries (44 observations): min. € 3.98/kg, max. € 35.6/kg, average € 14.91/kg.

In the visited stores, berries from a total of 30 brands were available.
The brand with the highest average prices in the category was Delizie.
The brand with the lowest average prices for blueberries was Peviani, followed by Ortofruit Italia.
Packaging
39% of the references for blueberries were sold in packages with a net weight of 125g.
