Italian wholesale market: Raspberries and Blueberries Above 20 Euros

51

Raspberries in wholesale markets include products of both Italian and Moroccan origin. Strawberries are Italian, with products from Trentino and Verona, though production issues are affecting supply. In about two weeks, the first Sicilian strawberries from Marsala should arrive. Blueberries are present on some markets, with Peruvian products priced above 20 euros per kilo. This is the situation in Italian wholesale markets.

Strawberries: Waiting for Sicilian Products

Federico Fapanni from Ortobergamo operates in the Lombardy market. "During this period, strawberries are mainly sold on weekends, especially to restaurants and pastry shops. There's little movement. As for prices, a 2 kg tray, which a few weeks ago could reach 28 euros, is now at 18/19 euros. Once prices exceed certain levels, demand drops. Today we have products from Trentino, but supply from Veneto is more challenging due to bad weather."

Italian strawberries are available year-round, and a change is coming soon: "My Sicilian suppliers have told me they will be ready with the first strawberries in about 15 days."

Raspberries Between 18 and 22 Euros

On average, prices for raspberries range between 18 and 22 euros per kilo. Domestic products have lower prices: in Cesena, they range from 16 to 21 euros, in Rome from 18 to 21 euros, while in Treviso prices fall significantly below 15 euros. Moroccan products show more stable prices, with 18/20 euros in Florence and Verona, 19/21 in Bologna, and 19/20 in Turin.

Blueberries Above 20 Euros

Blueberry prices remain high. Both Peruvian and Italian products are priced above 20 euros per kilo. Peruvian products are well over 20 euros per kilo: in Florence, they range from 22 to 25 euros, but in Verona, they drop to 19/21 euros, while in Rome they are 18/23 euros, and in Turin 20/21 euros. Italian blueberries show a wider range, with prices even falling below 15 euros.

Blackberries from Mexico

Mexican blackberries can reach up to 24 euros per kilo. Let's look at individual markets: Florence prices range from 20 to 24 euros, Verona from 19 to 21 euros, and Turin from 21 to 22 euros. In Treviso, there is Polish produce priced above 20 euros.

Italian Red Currants

Italian red currants are priced between 20 and 24 euros per kilo in Cesena, with a wider range in Florence from 15 to 23 euros. In Verona, prices drop to 15 euros. In Reggio Emilia, they are 17 euros, and in Rome 16 euros.
