Nikko Berry strawberries are entering new US retail chains. Packaging and increased production capacity are supporting the brand’s expansion.
Oishii is accelerating its expansion in US grocery retail. In a statement dated 27 October 2026, the US indoor strawberry grower announced its first listings at Walmart, The Fresh Market and Giant Food, alongside an expanded partnership with Sprouts.
The announced rollout covers 78 Walmart stores across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, 84 The Fresh Market stores in the Southeast and 30 Giant Food stores across Maryland and Virginia. Sprouts is adding 34 stores in Florida and Georgia.
Driving the expansion is Premium Grade Nikko Berry, offered in packs of approximately 213 grams, with a suggested retail price of $7.99, although shelf prices vary by store and retailer.
The previously introduced Stay-Fresh top-seal packaging is reportedly playing a key role in the retail expansion: according to Oishii, it uses 80% less plastic than traditional packaging and extends shelf life by 33%. These performance figures are company claims.
The goal is to exceed 500 retail locations across 25 states by the end of 2026. The case offers food for thought for the Italian sector: considering quality, packaging and logistics together when developing a premium offering capable of reaching a wider retail network.
