While Morocco is still the leading player in Europe for blueberries and raspberries, the market space occupied by Spain and Portugal continues to grow. Italian production is still only directed towards the national market.
BLACKBERRIES
Within a month, Spanish production will start to increase to its summer peak, while Portugal is proceeding with good quality and stable prices.
Morocco is raising prices due to strong demand.
Italy proceeds with production in the South with stable prices and good quality.
MIRTILLI
Spain expects its production peak within two weeks. Preparations are being made for promotions and larger formats.
Morocco is proceeding with a regular supply without large volumes, the quality is still good and is expected to continue for at least another 3 weeks.
Portugal offers good-sized fruit, but volumes are scarce.
Italy has so far not suffered any damage due to bad weather and the main season is expected to start within 4 weeks with the first Duke. The early product in Southern Italy will be available for a few more weeks.
LAMPONI
Morocco is at peak production and still offers excellent quality. The season is now at an end.
The Spanish peak is expected to arrive within two weeks, while quality continues to be poor with very delicate fruit.
The Portuguese product is scarce and of unsatisfactory quality.
Italy is proceeding with production in the south of Italy fetching good prices on the domestic market.
RED RIBES
Chile will continue for another two weeks, after which it will switch to Portuguese products.
