Chilean exporters of blueberries have reached an agreement to implement a charter service to the U.S. market, specifically for fresh blueberries , which has been named "Blueberry Express."
This is a special service that will begin in week 49 of the 2022-2023 season, with specific ships to send blueberries fresh in less than two weeks to the U.S. market.
For Felipe Silva, president of Zurgroup, "we are optimistic about the upcoming season in the United States, which is the main market for blueberries in our country and where we faced the greatest difficulties last season. In this way, we are confident that we will arrive at our destination on time and in the conditions required by our customers."
The service, which will be available to the entire industry, includes chartered vessels, in which a portion of the cargo will go into refrigerated holds, as has been done for years for other species, such as table grapes, ensuring that the cold chain is maintained.
Similarly, services at the port of destination ensure a rapid flow to customers, a key element in achieving optimal arrival of fruit to the end consumer."
