What is Berrisys?
Berrisys is a laminated, double-release, sulphur dioxide-generating plastic foil designed to protect blueberries already packaged in sealed units such as heat-sealed containers, during transport and later in storage, from post-harvest rot, problems caused in particular by the fungus Botrytis cinerea.
How does it work?
Berrisys consists of several layers, a slow-release layer placed at the top as the first layer and in the middle and a fast-release layer placed in the middle and as the last layer.
The fast release layer makes the surface sterile, immediately neutralising fungal spores on the fruit.
The slow release layer remains active by gradually emitting a substance that counteracts the growth of the fungus in the tray.
What is the difference between Berrisys and Berrisys Lite?
Berrisys and Berrisys Lite are similar in operation, Berrisys LITE is a laminated, double release, sulphur dioxide generating plastic foil designed to protect bulk packaged blueberries , blueberries packed in open bins and packages using plastic bags.
How is it used?
There is no health risk, the important thing is to use the right Berrisys with the right container.
To use, simply take a container, insert the fruit and cover it with a Berrisys sheet. Berrisys is recommended for use in bins with a clamshell lid and Berrisys lite only in bins without a lid or with a disposable lid.
Berrisys therefore presents itself as a product for preserving fruit for a long time during transport in order to preserve quality at all stages of distribution.
