The berry assortment in Turin is highly varied, with a very large space dedicated to berries across all supermarkets and product references. We are currently at the peak production period for blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, with a wide variety of formats: up to 500 grams for blueberries and up to 250 grams for blackberries and raspberries.
Quality is good, and production lots are recent, processed within 2-3-4 days. There are many brands, with a varied landscape, strong product availability and generally low prices.
These are the findings from the latest Berry Observatory, carried out today, 18 May 2026, in the urban area of Turin, covering 19 points of sale across 19 retail banners belonging to 15 large-scale retail groups.
The retail banners analysed include Aldi, Banco Fresco, Bennet, Carrefour, Carrefour Market, Coop, Dpiù, Esselunga, Eurospin, Il Gigante, IN's, Lidl, MD, Mercatò, Pam, Penny, Sigma, Spazio Conad and U2.
Berry assortment
The points of sale visited featured from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 8 references in the berry category, with an average of 4.5 references per store. The assortment percentages across the 19 points of sale were: raspberries 89%; blueberries 100%; blackberries 79%; red currants 16%; berry duo packs 11%; and mixed berries 5%.
Range breadth
5% of the points of sale with berries in their assortment had a single reference, 21% had two or three, while the remaining 74% featured four or more references.
Product quality
Quality refers to the health condition of the product, assessed in terms of: absence of significant defects; sound product but not in ideal condition, such as not fresh, tired-looking, shrivelled, dull or lacking bloom; presence of damaged fruit and juice leakage; presence of spoiled fruit and mould.
The groups with the best quality were Aldi, Banco Fresco, Bennet, Conad, Coop, Esselunga, Eurospin, Lidl, Rewe, Sigma and Unes.

Retail prices
Raspberries (24 observations): min. €15.90/kg - max. €23.92/kg - average €21.02/kg
Blueberries (55 observations): min. €9.58/kg - max. €35.84/kg - average €16.18/kg
Blackberries (17 observations): min. €14.36/kg - max. €23.92/kg - average €18.72/kg
Red currants (3 observations): min. €26.24/kg - max. €29.44/kg - average €28.37/kg
Trio packs (7 observations): min. €17.38/kg - max. €33.20/kg - average €26.16/kg
Overall total (106 observations): min. €9.58/kg - max. €35.84/kg - average €18.69/kg.
Brands present
Across the points of sale visited, berries from a total of 30 brands were recorded. Carrefour Bio was the brand with the highest average prices, while Widmann and Cuna De Platero offered the lowest average prices for blueberries.
Packaging formats used
36% of blueberry references were sold in 125-gram packs.
