The NSG 203-Marimbella® variety demonstrates its earliness in strawberry production in Morocco as well, showing high yield, consistency throughout the production cycle, and low plant mortality.

Nova Siri Genetics (NSG), an Italian company specializing in research and development of new strawberry and berry varieties, has focused on Morocco to further its plan of expansion and implementation of its early strawberry varieties.

The excellent results these varieties are achieving in major production areas, especially in southern Spain and Italy, have accelerated the company's efforts in Morocco. NSG’s strawberry varieties demonstrate a remarkable capacity to adapt to the conditions and characteristics of the main strawberry-growing regions in the country.

The main cultivars in NSG’s breeding program are NSG 203-Marimbella®, NSG 465-Rossetta®, and NSG 207-Gioelita®. These are suitable for cultivation in Morocco due to their excellent performance in terms of earliness, hardiness, fruit quality, high productivity, consistency throughout the cultivation cycle, and low plant mortality.

The variety that has shown the greatest development and aroused particular interest in Morocco is NSG 203-Marimbella®. Its high early production, a distinctive feature of this cultivar, makes it the best alternative to the main varieties currently planted in Morocco. Moreover, it is characterized by low plant mortality and high yields, maintained throughout the harvesting season.

It should be noted that this is a very technical variety, requiring particular care in its management, especially in fertigation.

When planted in pots (or rooted tops) in mid-September, harvesting begins in the second half of November, with peak production occurring in January, February, and March.

As for the varieties NSG 465-Rossetta® and NSG 207-Gioelita®, NSG is optimistic about their potential for wider adoption in Morocco. One of the main features of NSG 465-Rossetta® is the high quality of its fruit, which stands out for its firmness, high productivity, and excellent shelf life, making it very appealing for the most demanding markets.

Similarly, NSG 207-Gioelita® is a cultivar with a strong capacity to adapt to Morocco, distinguished by the quality of its strawberries and its ease of harvesting, thanks to its compact growth habit.
