Cuna de Platero, Spain's fourth largest producer of berries, distributed blueberries to all participants in the 19th Andalusian Congress of Primary Care Physicians SEMERGEN - Andalusia, held in Islantilla on 25, 26 and 27 April.

In addition to berries, all attending doctors received an information leaflet that includes the properties, nutritional values and recommendations for the consumption of blueberries. "So that they can take them into account in the prevention of diseases and the improvement of general health," explained the president of Cuna de Platero, Francisco José Gómez.

This booklet brings together the six main benefits of blueberries, such as their vitamin C and antioxidant content; their anti-inflammatory properties; they protect the liver from oxidation and help release insulin; their fibre content to regulate intestinal transit; or their energy supply, especially to the brain and nervous system, among others.

"The act of taking care of ourselves must start with our diet and berries are available to us to add benefits to our organism," Gómez pointed out, emphasising that "we must combine it with physical activity. Moving adds life to us'.

In addition to the nutritional values per 100 g of blueberries, this document that Cuna de Platero has made available to all primary care physicians includes the amount that endocrinologist and professor in Sports Nutrition and head of Interfresa's Scientific and Health Department, Dr. Antonio Escribano, recommends taking to notice its benefits: 30 blueberries, three times a week.
