In the summer, the blueberries from a blueberry plantation in the Jimo district of Qingdao, Shandong province, are being harvested, and local farmers are busy picking, sorting, and shipping the fruits to markets across the country.
In recent years, Jinkou township in the Jimo district has adopted the "base + farmer" model to guide farmers in developing more than 10 varieties of blueberries and has attracted many tourists to visit and pick the berries, helping farmers to increase their income and contribute to the rural development of the region.
The "base + farmer" model is a strategy to organize and improve agricultural practices. Generally, it involves establishing a central base (which could be a company, a cooperative, or a government initiative) that provides support, resources, and guidance to individual farmers. This base serves as a hub for expertise, technology, and market access, facilitating a more structured and supported form of agriculture.
