The Italian Berry Retail Monitor in Bologna reported high prices on the whole range of berries,, which is accompanied by a critical situation on the shelf: high prices are in fact linked to low availability (there is a lack of product on display and the sales outlets have reduced the space dedicated to the category) and a consequent criticality also on quality, with low rotation stock.
The blueberries come from Peru, Portugal, Spain and Poland, while the raspberries are of Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Polish origin; quality is generally fair, but production and packaging batches are a little dated.
The survey was conducted on 23/09/2024 in the area of Bologna (Italy) on 19 shops owned by 19 retailers belonging to 13 retailing groups.
The full berry range of the following retailers has been surveyed: Aldi, Alì, Carrefour, Carrefour Express, Carrefour Market, Conad Superstore, Despar, Dpiù, Esselunga, Eurospar, Eurospin, IN's, Ipercoop, Lidl, PAM, PAM Local, Sigma.
