In the large-scale retail trade of Modena (survey 28/02/24) for blueberries prices are generally low, the origin is divided between Chile, Spain, Peru, Morocco, the formats are mainly 125g, the larger ones are few, the quality in general is fair. Numerous brands are on offer on the shelves.

The Global Blueberry Price Index of the Italian Berry basket surveyed on 26/02/2024 increased by 2.5 percent compared to the previous week. The index consists of 14 global retail brands, of which 14 had products on offer in the survey of 26/02/2024.

The Italian Berry Retail Monitor survey took place this week on 20/02/2024 in the urban area of Milan and covered 20 points of sale of 19 brands belonging to 16 large-scale retail groups.

The berry retail offer in Genoa this week revealed a serious shortage of redcurrants, available in only three out of the 18 shops visited. The quality was generally unsatisfactory across the whole range, with prepacks on the shelves since the beginning of February.

Moderate prices prevail on the Padua marketplace for blueberries; while blackberries and raspberries stand on higher checkout lines, especially blackberries, which are often not on the shelves. Blueberries also in 250g and 300g formats from Peru, Chile, and Morocco.

The Global Blueberry Price Index of the Italian Berry basket surveyed on 01/22/2024 decreased 1.3 percent from the previous week. In a strong rebound, organic prices in the 14 global signs surveyed on 01/22/2024.

An analysis of the shelves of supermarkets in Florence revealed a varied landscape regarding the assortment of berries. In particular, blueberries stand out for their moderate prices, while blackberries and raspberries tended to have higher costs, especially blackberries.

In Bologna, prices are falling, especially for blueberries, due to the drop in consumption after the holidays. Blackberries and raspberries, on the other hand, remain strong. The quality remains fresh, as do the production batches, but there is a general decline in the quantity of SKUs on the shelves, to the point of a few stock breaks. Chilean blueberries appeared for the first time, generally presenting good quality. Supply from Mexico for raspberries also continued, a sign of the lack of European supply at the moment (Morocco, Spain, Italy and Portugal).

The global price index fell in the first week of 2024: -1.3% driven by the decline of the standard segment to -3.80%. In contrast, the organic segment grew with an increase of 5.11%. The number of SKUs also decreased to 46 from 51 in the previous week.

In Brescia, blueberries present themselves as an affordable option, with moderate prices echoing the needs of the value-for-money consumer. However, the analysis reveals significant fluctuations in the costs of blackberries, raspberries and currants, with variations depending on the different retailers.
