Ukraine: blueberry growers unite for export

39

In Ukraine, the berry sector continues to demonstrate resilience and strategic vision, even in a context marked by conflict. A new collective player enters the scene with the goal of strengthening the blueberry supply chain at both national and international levels.

Despite the difficulties caused by the war, the Ukrainian blueberry industry is not stopping—on the contrary, it is moving forward. As reported by East-Fruit, 16 of the country’s leading blueberry-producing companies have come together to form the Ukrainian Blueberry Growers Association. Together, they cultivate a total area of 850 hectares entirely dedicated to the production of this small fruit.

A platform for growth and export

The new entity is not just a discussion forum among operators, but a structured platform to stimulate the commercial development of the supply chain. The objectives are clear: build reliable supply chains, strengthen domestic retail presence, and better position themselves in foreign markets by focusing on quality, varietal innovation, and continuity of supply.

The Association also aims to systematically address current challenges in the sector and identify new opportunities for Ukrainian blueberries on the global stage.

“The world must know our blueberries exist, even in wartime”

Emphasizing the importance of this initiative is Nataliia Pukshyn, president of the association:

“Even in wartime, it is essential to actively communicate in international markets and represent the entire sector in a united way. Our blueberries maintain excellent quality standards, even under difficult conditions. We are present in key international markets and aim to win new customers without losing the trust of our long-standing partners.”

According to Pukshyn, Ukraine confirms itself as a reliable supplier, capable of offering modern varieties, guaranteed volumes, and high quality standards, even in an unstable geopolitical situation.

Looking ahead

This new alliance represents an important step in strengthening the credibility of Ukraine's blueberry supply chain and preparing for a future in which traceability, quality, and cooperation among producers will increasingly be key to accessing global markets.
