In supermarkets in Trieste there is a very strong presence of Sant'Orsola and Garden Frutta, which almost have control of the area in terms of supplies. As for the quality of the product, standards are good for all berries.
Blackberries generally look good, with a clear improvement in those of Mexican origin, which currently represent the only available origin, except for a few cases from Portugal. Blueberries are exclusively from Peru, while raspberries show multiple origins: Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Italy and Mexico.
Blueberry prices are decreasing, and indeed there are also very large formats such as the half-kilo pack at very competitive prices. Raspberry prices are also decreasing, while blackberries remain quite expensive.
This is the summary of today’s survey, 19 November 2025, in the urban area of Trieste, which covered 17 points of sale from 17 banners belonging to 12 groups of the Modern Retail sector (GDO).
