Peruvian blueberries passes audit of export program to Taiwan. The National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA) announced that the Peruvian blueberries export program to Taiwan has passed the audit conducted by the phytosanitary authorities, Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ - Taiwan).

The inspection took place from March 6 to 16, where the fields of blueberries and packaging companies located in La Libertad and Ancash regions were checked. After the success of the trip, it was decided to authorize the list of production sites and processing plants that will send the product to Taiwan during the next export campaign.

Currently, Peru has more than 18,000 hectares of blueberries in full production, distributed in La Libertad (49%), Lambayeque (22%), Lima (20%), Ica (8%), Ancash (7%) and Piura (5%). Last season, a total of 1,705 tons was exported to Taiwan.

Growth in agricultural exports of blueberry has positioned the country as the world's leading exporter of this fruit, reaching a certification of 277,468 tons in the 2021-2022 season and 208,594 tons in the 2020-2021 season.

SENASA's action in the field and in packing centers ensures compliance with the phytosanitary requirements established by the importing countries, allowing the consolidation of this Peruvian fruit in the main target markets, benefiting Peruvian producers.
