Italian Berry Magazine – Morocco Berry Conference Edition: a journey through the Africa shaping the future of berries

29

Italian Berry will attend the Morocco Berry Conference 2025 in Agadir, confirming its commitment to reporting on the global evolution of the berry industry.

Thomas Drahorad, founder of Italian Berry, will take part in the event as moderator of three conferences, contributing to the international dialogue on the future of the sector.

For the occasion, a special edition of Italian Berry Magazine will be distributed, published in Italian, English, and Arabic to reach the professional audience from Morocco and Egypt.

Africa takes center stage

The magazine opens with an editorial by Siham Zahidi, founder of the conference and co-founder of Green Smile, who shares Morocco’s extraordinary growth story: from an agricultural promise to a continental leader in blueberry exports, with over 82,000 tonnes exported in 2025 from 6,800 hectares under cultivation.

These figures are part of a broader context, where 13,850 hectares of berries generate more than 7 million seasonal jobs, confirming the economic and social impact of a now strategic sector.

African cooperation

Zahidi also highlights the key role of African cooperation: Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, and Zimbabwe are building a continuous production calendar, ensuring year-round berry supply.

A model based on innovation, sustainability, and interregional synergies that is reshaping the global berry trade landscape.

Alongside the editorial, the new issue of Italian Berry Magazine features exclusive insights, updated data, and interviews with key players from the global berry industry, with dedicated focuses on agronomic trends, emerging markets, and new export strategies.
