The survey was conducted on 12/23/2024 in the urban area of Verona (Italy) and involved 15 retail outlets of 15 banners belonging to 14 groups of large-scale distribution.
The assortments of the following banners' retail outlets were analyzed: Aldi, Conad, Esselunga, Eurospin, Famila, Interspar, Iper La Grande I, Lidl, Martinelli, MD, Migross, Pam, Prix, Rossetto, Spazio Conad.
Assortment
In the berries category, the visited retail outlets featured between a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 references, with an average of 3.9 references per store.
Among the 15 retail outlets visited where berries were present:
- 80% included Raspberries in their assortment
- 100% included Blueberries in their assortment
- 53% included Blackberries in their assortment
- 27% included Red Currants in their assortment
- 33% included Mixed Berries in their assortment
Range Breadth
- None of the stores with berries in their assortment sold only one reference.
- 47% of the stores with berries in their assortment sold 2 or 3 references.
- 53% of the stores with berries in their assortment sold 4 or more references.
Quality
The groups with the best quality were Aldi, Finiper, Gruppo PAM, Lidl, Martinelli, and Prix.

A total of 24 brands of berries were found in the visited retail outlets.
The brand with the highest average price in the category was Spreafico.
The brand with the lowest average price for blueberries was Sweggie, followed by Danper.
Packaging
52% of the references for blueberries were sold in net weight packages of 125g.
