The survey was conducted on 07/17/2024 in the urban area of Piacenza (Italy) and involved 19 stores from 19 brands belonging to 15 large distribution groups.
The assortments of the following brands were surveyed: Aldi, Basko, Conad Superstore, Coop, Dpiù, ECU, Esselunga, Eurospin, Galassia, Gulliver, Il Gigante, In's, Ipercoop, Italmark, Lidl, MD, Naturasì, Penny, Sigma.
Assortment
In the berries category, the stores visited had from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 8 references, with an average of 3.9 references per store.
In the 19 stores visited where a berry assortment was present:
- 79% had Raspberries in their assortment
- 100% had Blueberries in their assortment
- 74% had Blackberries in their assortment
- 37% had Red Currants in their assortment
- 21% had Berry Mix in their assortment
Range Width
- 11% of the stores with berries in their assortment had only one reference for sale.
- 37% of the stores with berries in their assortment had 2 or 3 references for sale.
- 53% of the stores with berries in their assortment had 4 or more references for sale.
Quality
The groups with the best quality were found to be Basko, Esselunga, Lidl,

- Blueberries (38 observations): min. € 7.98/kg, max. € 23.84/kg, average € 13.9/kg.

The brand with the highest average prices in the category was Orsero.
The brand with the lowest average prices for blueberries was Trifoglio, followed by Southern Sun.
