Global blueberry prices drop in Christmas week 2024

The Global Blueberry Price Index of the Italian Berry basket, recorded on 12/24/2024, decreased by 0.9% compared to the previous week.

The index consists of 14 global large-scale distribution banners, all of which had products on offer during the 12/24/2024 survey.

The 14 banners composing the weekly panel are: Albert Heijn (NL), Carrefour (FR), Coop (CH), FairPrice (SG), Intermarché (FR), Interspar (AT), Kroger (US), Mercadona (ES), Rewe (DE), Sainsbury's (UK), Tesco (UK), Walmart (US), Woolworths (AU), ICA (SE).

This week's basket assortment includes 53 references across 14 global large-scale distribution banners, with an average of 3.8 references per banner. The previous week recorded 42 references across the same 14 banners (average 3 references per banner). The total number of references has therefore increased by 26% compared to the previous week.

• For 13% of the references, price increases were recorded, with an 11% increase compared to the previous week;
• For 74% of the references, prices remained stable compared to the previous week;
• For 13% of the references, price decreases were recorded, with a 20% reduction compared to the previous week.

Minimum and Maximum Blueberry Prices by Banner

• Minimum prices are mostly stable this week: of the 14 global large-scale distribution banners, 64% kept minimum blueberry assortment prices stable, 14% increased them, and 21% reduced them compared to the previous week.
• Maximum prices are mostly stable this week: of the 14 global large-scale distribution banners, 71% kept maximum blueberry assortment prices stable, 21% increased them, and 7% reduced them compared to the previous week.
