British Berry Growers rejects supermarkets' accusations: insufficient revenues are not the fault of middlemen

British Berry Growers, representing 95% of UK soft fruit producers, refuted claims by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) that increased payments from retailers were being hindered by middlemen. BBG insisted growers have direct relationships with retailers and aren't adequately compensated. 

The chairman, Nick Marston, emphasized a growing disparity between retailer prices and production costs, urging retailers to take tangible steps to address this and sustain the fresh berry industry.
