In our Drahorad family, a 17-volume German-language encyclopedia "Meyers Konversations-Lexikon. Ein Nachschlagewerk des allgemeinen Wissens. 5., gänzlich neubearbeitete Auflage ("Meyer. A general culture handbook. Fifth edition, newly elaborated") in the 1893 edition.
The entry "Beerenobst" (berry fruit) states "fruit that consists of real berries such as gooseberries, currants, blueberry, oxycotton, blueberry red, as well as berry-like fruits such as raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, strawberries. Because of their characteristics, these fruits do not keep for long, but are processed in various ways and some of them even into wine."
The voice is also enriched by a graphic table illustrating different varieties of currants (white, red, striped yellow), raspberries (red and yellow), blackberries (from Dorchester and Lawton), bones, gooseberries and strawberries.
