Campagnola: Starberry MD2 opens to low-cost blueberry harvesting

421

The Campagnola Company is a leading manufacturer of agricultural tools, such as electric and pneumatic pruning shears, olive grove harvesters, chain pruners and more.

For blueberries harvesting Campagnola Company created Starberry MD2, a shaker that facilitates manual harvesting of blueberries, reducing harvesting costs and labor hours by more than 50 percent at a time when finding labor is increasingly difficult, laborer costs are very high, and blueberries prices are shrinking. Campagnola's solution is therefore instrumental in maintaining the profit margins necessary for farm life.

Marco Antolini, agronomist and grower at blueberries adds, "Last summer I had some growers in Veneto try Starberry and the results were optimal. For example, from farm Benini Mattia in Arcole (VR) on Cargo variety, using Starberry MD2, 25 kg/hour was harvested against the 5kg that can usually be harvested manually. The result found was surprising."

Sergio Panini, specialized industry consultant and worldwide development manager for Starberry MD2: "The results are indeed surprising, especially at a time when we absolutely must take action to reduce production costs at blueberry. I think we can settle on a conservative average of 10-12 kg of harvest per hour, but it depends on the variety and the stage of maturity."

"We are currently focused on sales in the Spanish market, which has just started the season. For Italy, in addition to participating in the International Blueberry days at Macfrut 2023, of which we are sponsors, we have created a very interesting promotion that allows growers to try Starberry MD2 with in-field assistance, 10% discount and right to return, booking it by 30/4″
