Berries in Brescia (Italy): strong retail presence, broad range and high prices in retail stores

126

Strong presence of berries in all retail stores, with a variety of product references. All batches are recent, ensuring a good turnover. Prices are medium to high as the season for overseas blueberries and blackberries is now in full swing, while raspberries are starting to arrive from Morocco, causing a price increase. Redcurrants remain very competitive and affordable.

As for blueberries, all formats are available, up to 500 grams, providing interesting diversification despite high prices. Brescia proves to be a market crowded with brands. The quality of blackberries and raspberries is not outstanding, while that of the Peruvian blueberries is excellent.

This is the key summary of the findings from the Berry Observatory, which yesterday, 7 October 2025, focused on the urban area of Brescia. Specifically, the Berry Observatory covered 18 stores from 18 banners belonging to 15 large-scale retail groups (GDO): Aldi, Carrefour Market, Conad, Conad Superstore, Coop, Dpiù, Esselunga, Eurospin, Famila Superstore, In’s, Ipercoop, Italmark, Lidl, MD, Migross, Penny, Prix, Rossetto.
