For the first time, the International Asparagus Days and International Berries Days are joining forces in a single major event, scheduled to take place in Bordeaux from October 7 to 10, 2025.

The event is organized by Macfrut 2025, Befve&Co., and Interco Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and aims to strengthen the link between two sectors that often share growers, suppliers, and commercial networks.

The announcement was made at Macfrut, in the presence of Renzo Piraccini (Macfrut), Luciano Trentini, Christian Befve, and Christine Pecastaingts (Interco). “We focus on traveling specialist fairs,” said Piraccini, “to connect all the key players in the supply chains.”

The program: technical tours, exhibition, and automation

The format spans four days:

  • Tuesday, October 7: technical tours of asparagus farms in Gironde and berry farms in Lot-et-Garonne.
  • Wednesday, October 8 and Thursday, October 9: exhibition in Bordeaux at Planasa, featuring an exhibition area, workshops, varietal demonstrations, and a focus on automation and robotics.
  • Friday, October 10: technical tour in Dordogne, with visits to Lanxade, the Invenio station, and the Teychenné farm.

The event will address key issues: climate adaptation, labor, automation, and economic sustainability. “Today, it takes 3 kg of asparagus to pay for one hour of labor,” explained Christian Befve. “We urgently need innovation to reduce costs.”

There is also strong demand for berries, but suitable technical solutions are needed. Ten new robots for automated harvesting and crop management will be presented.

Asparagus & Berries Days 2025 is an example of a specialist and international trade fair, fostering the exchange of knowledge and strategies between two increasingly interconnected supply chains.

After Bordeaux, the format is ready to expand to other countries.
