Nel presente studio, sostanze come il fertilizzante urea-fosfato, lo zolfo, l'acido solforico e il fosfogesso sono stati utilizzati per acidificare tre terreni: torba, sabbia limosa e limo limoso. Lo studio mirava ad abbassare il pH dei suoli testati e ad ottimizzare questo parametro per coltivare il mirtillo americano.
