US soft fruit giant Driscoll's has formally agreed terms for the purchase of Berry Gardens' trading subsidiary, Berry Gardens Limited, bringing together two major players in the soft fruit industry.

Driscoll's is the largest berries company in the world and accounts for a significant share of global berry sales, while Berry Gardens is the largest co-operative of berry growers in the UK. Berry Gardens Limited (BGL) is the sales, packaging and distribution entity of Berry Gardens Growers Limited (BGG).
In a statement, Berry Gardens said: "Driscoll's -- the global market leader in fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries -- and Berry Gardens Growers Limited (BGG) -- the largest cooperative of berry growers in the United Kingdom -- have formally agreed terms for the purchase of Berry Gardens Limited (BGL), the sales, packaging and distribution entity of Berry Gardens Growers Limited (BGG)."
