How Coop Italy is reacting to the severe emergency in berry availability

214

The difficult situation affecting the Italian berry production in recent weeks is having significant effects on the entire distribution chain.

Today, some COOP stores have had to face difficulties in meeting the commitments made to consumers with a promotion that was planned for this period:

COOP ORIGINE BERRIES - The convenience is triple.

Blueberries 250 g pack - € 9.92 per kg

Blackberries, Raspberries, Blueberries and Raspberries 200 g pack - € 12.40 per kg € 2.48 per pack

  • BENEFITS FOR CONSUMERS: with a special price
  • BENEFITS FOR ITALIAN PRODUCERS: guaranteeing an adequate income
  • BENEFITS FOR EVERYONE'S HEALTH: with pesticide residue control, non-GMO, in compliance with legal limits

According to Coop, "Transparency and controlled and certified origins are the values that Coop has always aspired to. And the Origine line fully reflects these values." Coop has managed the supply crisis according to these transparency values by informing consumers with a specific notice:

We inform customers that due to adverse weather conditions in the production regions, such as Veneto, Trentino, and Piedmont, the supply of Coop Origine berries may face difficulties. We are committed to providing as much product as possible in-store and extending the promotional initiative by one week, until July 17th.

In addition to informing their customers about possible product shortages on the shelves, Coop is committed to extending the promotion by one week beyond the initially planned deadline of July 10th, thus implementing the transparency with which they have characterized their "Origine" private label.
