Cile: export di mirtilli in crescita del 20%, focus su Argentina e Brasile con nuove promozioni

Chile has exported around 73,000 tonnes of blueberries so far in the 2025/26 season, marking a 20 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

According to industry representatives, this growth is mainly linked to higher temperatures, which brought production forward.

Despite the strong start, total exports are expected to end slightly below last season’s 90,000 tonnes.

Europe leads blueberry imports

Europe has emerged as the leading destination, absorbing 55 per cent of total shipments to date and recording a 36 per cent year-on-year increase.

This growth has been partly driven by a diversion of fruit from the US market, where tariff issues have reduced competitiveness, and by stronger demand in specialised European market niches.

Asian markets show mixed results

Exports to Asia have risen modestly overall, with a 2 per cent increase compared to last season.

However, performance varies significantly by country, with South Korea showing a 21 per cent rise and Taiwan posting exceptional growth of 156 per cent, confirming expanding opportunities in selected Asian markets.

Latin America strengthens position

Shipments to Latin America have increased by 25 per cent so far this season.

Argentina is the main destination, with Chilean blueberry imports up by 31 per cent, while Brazil has recorded a 9 per cent increase.

These markets are seen as strategically important due to their proximity and their complementary production calendars.

New phase for the sector

The sector is entering a new growth phase supported by higher volumes of new varieties, alongside a renewed focus on market development and consumption promotion.

Promotional activities have been relaunched in Chile, Argentina and Brazil, highlighting health benefits, flavour and everyday consumption.

According to industry leaders, Chilean blueberries are increasingly valued for their consistency and taste, attracting both regular buyers and new consumer segments.
