G-Berries and Lucchini join forces to innovate the Italian raspberry industry

G-Berries and Lucchini Berries announced that they have signed a strategic partnership to develop, promote and sell new raspberry varieties globally.

Alessandro Lucchini started his varietal improvement activity in the Verona area a few years ago with a goal that was as simple as it was ambitious: to find varieties capable of raising the level of his own production. The Veronese area today presents truly challenging and complex characteristics in terms of climate and general conditions, and Alessandro immediately focused his research on two essential themes: high levels of productivity and ease of harvest.

G-Berries is the new company launched by Luca and Matteo Molari whose main activities are genetic improvement, applied research and variety management. The ability demonstrated in recent years in the promotion and strategic management of varieties at a global level, combined with a relationship of deep mutual esteem and friendship, has made this partnership fruitful and effective from the very beginning.

The project started in May 2022 with the promotion of the first two new varieties EASY STAR (AL 045) and EASY ROCK (AL 111) and intends to create a lasting and successful collaboration that will continue with the new genetics that will see the light of day in the near future.

  • EASY STAR (AL 045) is a re-flowering variety that presents itself with a bright light red colour, very productive and very easy to harvest.
  • EASY ROCK (AL 111) is a medium to late re-flowering variety that is vigorous and has exceptional levels of productivity.

G-Berries, in close and day-to-day cooperation with Lucchini Berries, will manage the two varieties with dedicated strategies on a global level.

"After last year's successful test in Portugal and Spain, we had the opportunity to spread our plants to 33 different companies around the world, and we hope to ship many more thanks to the unique partnership with G-Berries," Lucchini Berries said.

The partners are convinced 'that the first essential step in the development of new genetics is to have high-quality basic material'; in this respect, two nurseries will be involved in the production of plants as early as this season: Molari Società Agricola and Azienda Agricola Roncolato.
